Expert pool filter repair, cartridge replacement, and filter system upgrades for crystal-clear water
Your pool filter is responsible for removing particles, debris, and contaminants from thousands of gallons of water every day. When filters become clogged, damaged, or simply worn out, water clarity suffers and your pump works harder, wasting energy. Project Pros services all three types of pool filters — cartridge, sand, and DE (diatomaceous earth) — throughout Cape Coral.
Cartridge filters are the most common type in Cape Coral residential pools. They capture particles as small as 10-15 microns using pleated polyester cartridges. Service includes regular cartridge cleaning (recommended every 4-6 weeks), cartridge replacement when cleaning no longer restores flow, filter tank O-ring and gasket replacement, and internal manifold and standpipe inspection. Most cartridges last 1-2 years with proper cleaning, though Cape Coral’s high mineral content can shorten their lifespan.
Sand filters use specially graded silica sand to trap particles as water passes through. Over time, the sand becomes channeled, calcified, or contaminated, reducing filtration effectiveness. We provide sand replacement (typically needed every 5-7 years), lateral and standpipe inspection and replacement, multiport valve repair and replacement, and filter tank inspection for cracks or deterioration.
Diatomaceous earth filters provide the finest filtration available, capturing particles as small as 3-5 microns. They require more maintenance than other types but deliver the clearest water. Our DE filter services include grid inspection and replacement, manifold and internal component repair, backwash and recharge with fresh DE powder, and conversion from older finger-style elements to modern grid assemblies.

Pool filter cartridges in Cape Coral typically last 1-2 years with regular cleaning every 4-6 weeks. Signs it’s time for replacement include inability to maintain clean water even after thorough cartridge cleaning, consistently high filter pressure, visible damage to pleats, and the cartridge feeling slimy even after cleaning.
Cartridge filters are most popular for residential pools due to low maintenance and good filtration. DE filters provide the clearest water but require more upkeep. Sand filters are durable and low-maintenance but offer less fine filtration. We help you choose based on your pool size, usage, and maintenance preferences.
High filter pressure (8-10 psi above clean starting pressure) indicates the filter media is dirty and restricting flow. Clean or replace your cartridge, backwash your sand or DE filter. If pressure remains high after cleaning, the filter media may need replacement, or there could be a plumbing restriction.
